Stuart’s Story

My life at St Luke’s

I arrived at St Luke’s in April 2008 and was not very confident in myself. The staff have helped me to build up my self-esteem over the years.

Staff here at St Luke’s have worked hard with Stuart in areas such as social skills training and building relevant skills. He has become a lively, sociable member of oV__5B38 - Copy - Copyur home at St Luke’s, and his confident is constantly building with each day.

Stuart takes care of some of the animals we have here at St Luke’s. He is actively involved with the day-to-day maintenance of the animals and their hutches, and seems to enjoy this as it makes him feel like a valued member of St Luke’s.

Stuart enjoys takWP_20140317_13_11_14_Proing care of the animals here at St Luke’s, and is particularly fond of the goats that he looks after. Stuart cleans out the animals hutches with support from staff, and we try to make it fun and interesting for him.

Stuart has a good sense of humour, and is always up for having a joke with everyone at St Luke’s. He prides himself on welcoming visitors into St Luke’s with a cup of tea and a chat, and takes a particular interest in telling jokes. He will sit and enjoy a hot chocolate in the evening, which is when he is most likely to sit and chat with others.

One of the most enjoyable things about living here at St Luke’s is that we get to go on exciting trips and holidays. Everyone has great fun and we get to do things such as going to the seaside and visiting animals parks and theme parks.

I am very happy to be living at St Luke’s and whilst here, I am supported in any activity that I take an interest in. The staff listen to me and value my opinions, which makes me feel like a valued member of the group.
